- Super Troupers Shine Bright In The O2’s Mamma Mia! The Party
ITTN’s Louise Ducrocq flew to London on Saturday, the 5th of April, to attend Mamma Mia! The Party at London’s iconic O2. Mamma Mia! The Party in London is a unique dining experience at The O2 , where ABBA fans can enjoy an immersive live show , a four-course Greek meal , and an unforgettable night of singing, dancing, and entertainment . Set in a recreated Skopelos-style taverna, this one-of-a-kind London theatre experience combines musical theatre, interactive performance, and Mediterranean cuisine , making it a must-do for visitors looking for the best things to do in London (and cool hen-do's ideas!) . There is so much to say about Mamma Mia! The Party . That said, the one thing that struck me is how wonder-filled this whole experience is. Created by ABBA’s Björn Ulvaeus , Mamma Mia! The Party is a theatrical dining experience like no other, set to a timeless soundtrack brimming with some of ABBA’s greatest hits . Guests are transported to the island of Skopelos , where they take their seats in a charming taverna for an evening of dining, dancing, and music . The four-course Greek meal is served while a romantic, feel-good story unfolds around them. The performance features beloved ABBA classics like Mamma Mia, Dancing Queen, SOS, and Waterloo , and the night ends on a high with a sparkling ABBA disco where everyone is invited to hit the dancefloor. In 2016, Mamma Mia! The Party opened in Stockholm (still thriving today), and following its success, the production was brought to London. After a lengthy venue search, the team found its current home at The O2 — a former nightclub transformed into a Greek taverna , now able to welcome up to 504 guests. London is The Party’s flagship location . Since opening in August 2019, it has welcomed over 500,000 guests, staged more than 1,000 performances , and drawn audiences from 110 countries — with Irish visitors making up a significant part of the crowd each night. A third site opened in Rotterdam in 2024, with exciting plans underway for further international roll-outs. Guests can get the ultimate Mamma Mia! The Party experience with VIP upgrades and Platinum packages , which are available on the Mamma Mia! The Party website . Performances run from Wednesday through to Sunday at 6.30 pm , with matinees on Saturday and Sunday at 12.00 pm . While tickets alone start at €130 per person , Keith Prowse’s exclusive packages offer guests the chance to travel from Dublin to London and back for 2 nights, stay in a 4-star hotel, and enjoy the show in The O2’s premium locations (Tier A & B), starting at €419 per person ! I was lucky to soak up the cast’s amazing talent from one of the best seats in the house, aka Tier A , along with the Platinum Package , courtesy of Keith Prowse and AE Consulting. This gave the merry bunch and me access to the full meal , half a bottle of wine per person, and 5 minutes to meet up with the performers, chat with them, and take a group picture . The 4-course meal was absolutely scrumptious. It was made even better by the show-stopping performances of the 20 artists singing, dancing, and swaying around the guests throughout the meals. Every part of the show was wonderful, including the mermaid-like aerial dancer appearing out of the centre-stage fountain. However, Inês Fernandez , playing Konstantina in the main cast, performing The Winner Takes It All with as much emotion as one’s voice could possibly contain , was by far the most beautiful moment of the three-and-a-half-hour show for me. My fellow journalists can attest, I got quite choked up . After the finale, guests get to party for one hour , singing along to ABBA’s most iconic tunes . Between the extravagant guests’ outfits, the lights dancing around the room, and the sheer joy emanating from all attendees, one could not find a theatrical dining experience as mesmerising as this. I would say half of the attendees were hen do groups - Mamma Mia! The Party is truly one of the best hen party activities. I am so grateful to the whole Keith Prowse and AE Consulting team , as well as my fellow journalists, for allowing me to soak up all of that wonderful Mamma Mia goodness from the UK’s best performers.

- Top Destinations for 24 hour Day Trips from Ireland
I recently saw this post on Facebook and it really had me thinking of the new Gen Z craze of flying out of Ireland or the UK to mainland Europe for the day to enjoy the offers of a European city before returning home. With the cost of living crisis and limited PTO, it might be how some travellers are enjoying countries in bite sized moments, rather than spending money on a hotel. Now, as a millennial with an income, you couldn't pay me to fly in and out for a one-day only holiday but, for the sake of it let's think about this! And, while we're on it, for the sake of it, let's forget about carbon footprints and the sustainability aspect! If! And I mean if you were going to spend a day in a country- leave early and fly home the same day, we need to look at some basic destination requirements. Requirements Here's the necessities of a city or town to become a day trip destination: Cheap flights: there's no point in me telling you to fly to Dubai for the day, we're scouring Ryanair and other cheap airlines to make sure that there are cheap flights available and at the right times! Short haul : if you're leaving at 5 am and back at 11 pm, we're looking for flights that are two hours or less- maximum 3 hours- so that you get the most out of your day trip. As an Irish company, we're flying from Dublin (more flights available) but just drop a comment if you want us to do it from another airport! Close airport in destination: one of the most important things is that there's a close airport- so you get in and out of your destination efficiently with good transport options. This means you get more from your day and you're not spending hours on the commute in. It also means there won't be too much panic getting back to the airport! (again, you couldn't pay me to do this) Cheap and accessible food and attractions: finally, I'm not sending you to Venice so you can enjoy a €45 pizza the same quality as Centra, I'm listing the most affordable places to go in destination too. Let's face it, if all you can afford is a day trip and not a hotel, then money's a little tight! This is a series we're doing so check back in and subscribe to our newsletter for updates.... The date is 3rd of April 2025, so I'm going to pick dates not too far in advance as I assume our youngster travellers aren't planning their day trips too long in advance! A comment on Dublin-Milan Originally, and seeing as Kerri and Jade inspired this post because of Milan, I was going to start there. But unfortunately the Irish are out of luck for an affordable flight to Milan that is worth the time. I have to include it because I don't want you to be duped (I got you). There are multiple airports in Milan, if you get cheap flights to Milan with Ryanair they will most likely be to Il Caravaggio International Airport in Bergamo which is a 1 hour 20 minutes ride from the city centre with changes (not a direct bus or train) and it's not worth your time (see BVA below). If you flew to Milan Malpensa with Ryanair for the day: it's more expensive because it's closer and the departing times DUB-MXP are in the afternoon. Alternatively, Aer Lingus fly to both MXP and Linate airport (which is worth visiting just for the airport alone) but there's no returns less than €120 - which is fair enough because they're the superior airline here and I'm trying to get you cheap, cheap day trips! I will tell you that I know some of the best sandwich and bakeries in Milan which will be included in an article in the near future, but anyway, let's get started- here are three day trip destinations from Dublin airport: Amsterdam I love Amsterdam after living there for half a year and dating a Dutch guy for 3 years. I'd highly recommend it on your list for travelling, and highly dissuade you from dating a Dutch man. Airport & transport: you've only got one choice when you're visiting Amsterdam to go to Schiphol which is a lovely airport, you can get into Amsterdam Centraal Station in 40 minutes which will leave you in the centre of the city. Flights: at this moment, Ryanair are doing their 19.99 seat sale and Amsterdam is a destination! Return flights on Wednesday the 7th of May are 44 euro return leaving at 07.50 DUB-AMS and returning at 21.20 AMS-DUB . Time: you land at 10 am, you're in the city by 11 am. You've got to be at the airport at 19.20 leaving at 6.30 pm giving you 7 hours in the city. What to Do: you'll be in the tourist area when you arrive but don't give up hope! From living in Amsterdam, my favourite spots close to the train station are the Eye Film Museum (€15) and Nemo Science Museum (€20), the Sexmuseum, Body Parts and Madame Tussauds are also close by. Grab dinner on a visit to Chinatown via the Red Light District, or go to my favourite the Floating Chinese Restaurant (beside station, really good for dinner) If you're looking for a great hipster neighbourhood go south to de Pijp for less costly restaurants and close by my favourite art museum in the world Stedelijk contemporary art museum (€23) directly beside the Van Gogh and Rijksmuseum! There's lots to do and great options for cheap meals if you know where to look! Even if you just want to spend the day in a coffeeshop lighting up, I'm giving this destination a 8/10. Manchester Manchester is the most underrated destination in the UK I've ever been to and the FOOD! You have your pick of amazing restaurants, cocktail bars and shopping experiences to keep you going so I'm already a bit biased here. Airport & transport: again, you've only got one choice when you're visiting Manchester for airports, you can get into Manchester Piccadilly station (a 10 minute walk from the centre of the city) in just under 30 minutes. Flights: I'm on the Ryanair Seat Sale again and I've found flights for Tuesday the 15th of April for 30 euro return leaving at 07.15 DUB-MAN and returning at 22.50 MAN-DUB with loads of other options if you want a shorter day for the same price. Time: you land at 8.15 am, you're in the city by 9 am. You've got to be at the airport at 20.50 leaving at 20.30 giving you 11 hours in the city. Now, as much as I love it- you don't need that long on your feet so if you grabbed the 18.00 you'd still get 9 hours for the same price on flights! What to Do: museums in Manchester aren't great unless you're a football nut, but what I highly recommend is checking out the shopping streets and you could absolutely time your visit to coincide with football matches and music events with most venues close to the city centre. Although this might drive up prices on flights. Unlike Amsterdam, you're not going to have problems with restaurants with tourist prices near museums so anywhere you pick to eat is going to be good. There are lots of cool fast food options in the Arndale shopping centre that we don't have in Ireland like Archie's, Taco Bell and Yo!Sushi (a personal favourite). I'd 100% recommend a Greggs sausage roll on arrival. If you're looking for something different try wandering down to Spinningfields and try the Asian Ivy restaurant for fancy cocktails or lunch, The Alchemist is also so much fun and you have Sexy Fish and Slug and Lettuce down that way, too. There are a plethora of great Mancunian pubs right in the city centre, a great market and bars in the Northern Quarter. Finally, Mowgli and loads of other cool places to eat can be found in the Corn Exchange. You could eat and drink your day around shopping or events here so I'm going to give this destination a 7/10 only because there's no weather change from Dublin! Paris Could you do Paris in a day? Maybe . From my travel agent days I'd send people for two nights and they'd have a ball, one night and you're getting a taster, one day? Let's try it. Flights, airport & transport: you've got options when it comes to airports and there are cheap flights available with multiple airlines. Charles de Gaulle isn't great for cheap cheap flights, so it's not included. Ryanair only flies to Beauvais which is the airport you'll always get cheap flights to and from because it's not in Paris and it's a PAIN of an airport to. Fly with Ryanair on 8th of May return at 06.30 DUB-BVA and 22.35 BVA-DUB for just €45 but add on that it's two hours each way minimum with changes and the prone-to-strike French, could it really be worth it? For just, €50 more (€90 return) you can fly to Orly airport only 30 minutes direct to and from the centre of Paris. On Skyscanner, we can opt for two different airlines so on the same day as above (8th of May) you could fly 08.20 DUB- ORY with Veuling and 18.15 ORY-DUB with Transavia to get that price. Time: with Ryanair you land at 9.00 am, you're in the central city by 11.30 am. You've got to be at the airport at 20.35 leaving at 18.30 latest so you have 7 hours in the city. With Veuling you land at 11.15 in Paris by midday, at the airport for 4.15 for Transavia so leaving Paris at 4pm giving you a shorter day of 4 hours to enjoy your croissant! What to Do: I've done the timing so that you would land directly where I want you: in Place du Châtelet. Here, you're beside a great shopping street on Rue de Rivoli, a stone's throw from the Louvre and luxury shopping at Galleries de Lafayette. You'll come up by the Notre Dame and south of the river just behind it you'll find the famous Shakespeare and Co Bookshop. On the right of that (if you're looking at the bookshop), you'll find the Latin Quarter where you can enjoy incredible touristy meals at four courses and a free glass of kir for under 30 euro. It won't be the best meal in the world but you'll love it because it's value for money! You can go free salsa and samba dancing further down the south bank of the Seine, grab a bottle of wine and eat like locals on the banks of the river and enjoy a great day. For Ryanair passengers, connect at Châtelet to Gare Du Nord for your transport home and go direct from Châtelet to Orly! What destinations do you want me to do next? I'm thinking southern Europe, what would you like?
- Where to Travel in What Month: June-December
It's April darling! That means we need to start making sure you have those holidays booked. But it's important to not book a South-East Asia trip during the rainy season and not visit the USA when humidity is 1000 percent and you'll faint crossing the street in Manhattan (it happened me last year, learn from my mistakes!). June Here are my top recommendations for travelling in June. June travellers are looking for that summer weather but not enough that you're going to get burned having your happy hour cocktails. Choosing spots by the coast offer that nice breeze on hot days with all the benefits of good weather! Bali and Fiji - it's a good time to visit Bali after the last remainder of their wet season (Oct- April) has dried off in June. The island breeze gives you the perfect opportunity to relax on the beach but not swelter too much! Greece and South Africa - it's a great time to also visit Greece with average temperatures at 30°C with that lovely wind in the islands, Athens is going to be a little bit more hot as city's are! South Africa is a little milder at an average temperature of 18 degrees with little to no rainfall. USA- June is the perfect month to visit the USA with average weather from NYC to LA at about 26 degrees, humidity is not at 100% yet on the East Coast (it's about 75%) so it's going to be humid but cool. July This was the month I fainted in New York City from the humidity on my birthday! So the USA is out for this month. If you're looking for some nice, cool weather that's not too hot and not too cold, check out the below. Iceland - July is probably my favourite month to visit Iceland- this month is the hottest in the country but temperatures are still mild at 13°C . Budapest - if you're looking for a city break, I recommend Budapest in July (average temperatures 30 degrees with 5 days of rain fall this month). From my travel agent days, the perfect time to spend in the Hungarian capital is 3 nights (4 days) with great access from Aer Lingus and Ryanair. Spain - one of the most popular destinations for Irish travellers abroad, Spain temperatures vary from 30 degrees in Malaga to milder temperatures the more north you travel, San Sebastian sits at a cool 23 degrees on the coast. Meaning you can enjoy the beach in the south or a gastronomic city adventure up north. Australia - for people looking for a long haul, you can enjoy warm and dry across the country's north and cold in the south. It can get particularly cold in Canberra with temperatures between 0°C and around 12°C. Coastal Sydney and Perth see warmer temperatures along with more precipitation August You know where to go if you're looking for that hot beach sun you know where to go- Spain, Italy, France are hot this time of year but they're also most expensive with kids off school across Europe. If you're looking for cheaper holidays, why not explore some countries having their nicest weather before they get cold in the winter? If you were going to travel to the Americas, Canada 's weather is lovely at this time of year . Vancouver has an average temperature of a mild 18°C, with highs of 22°C and lows of 14°C. On the opposite side of the country, Toronto is slightly warmer with an average temperature of 21°C, highs of 24°C and lows of 17°C after dark. Scotland- like Ireland, Scotland and anywhere else in the UK is having their hottest month in August making it a good time to explore hiking trails in the highlands or adventure in Edinburgh. It's warm, but manageable at an average of 17°C Norway, Netherlands, Poland- similarly, any of the Scandinavian countries like Norway, Finland and Sweden are all having their best months by far in July and August at an easy 25 degrees. The Netherlands and Poland also fall into this category with warm weather at an average of 22-27 degrees, making their cities walkable and their outdoor parks and areas a great respite. September September is an increasingly popular month to travel but with rainy seasons still rife across South East Asia and the USA still humid, staying on the Mediterranean is a good bet. You won't find the kind of deals that might have been around ten years ago with any destination in Europe during September but you will be able to find great deals in cities and areas that are not on tourist trails while you're enjoying the nice weather! Morocco and Turkey - with their Mediterranean breeze, days are usually hot with balmy evenings, so visitors should pack light and cool clothing. The average daily maximum is 28°C and the average daily minimum is 18°C. Italy, Portugal, France - along with Spain, these countries are almost letting up their hot summer months and prices are dropped slightly , enjoy weather of 27ºC to 29ºC in Malaga and Sicily, 26ºC in Barcelona, Milan and Lisbon and a cooler 22ºC in Paris. If you're looking for best deals try Nantes, Bordeaux and Annecy in France. Sesimbra and Porto in Portugal and Florence or Rimni in Italy as these destinations get a little quieter in September. Argentina- Spring arrives in Argentina with a burst of energy and colors in September. A trip to this South American country during this month means being surrounded by blossoming flowers and renewed life. High temperatures tend to fluctuate from 12 ºC to 23 ºC. September to Novembe r is often thought of as the best time to visit South America but the vast size, altitude contrasts and varying weather in South America means there is no single best time of year to visit. October If you're planning to travel in October, outside of the mid-term break week (27th-31st), you're going to be in great luck with excellent hotel options across European destinations. If you're looking for something a little bit different, try our suggestions below: Bali, Indonesia - Bali is back on the cards! October is great month to visit Bali. The weather is pleasant, with less humidity compared to the summer months. Thus, it makes it easier to enjoy Bali's beaches, temples, and amazing landscapes average temperatures are 28ºC. The Canaries and Malta - with the island breeze the Canaries and Malta are great for relaxing town strolls and beach holidays, closer to home with an average of 26ºC. Egypt - Days are usually hot with balmy evenings, so visitors should pack light and cool clothing. The average daily maximum is 33 C and the average daily minimum is 23 C. Cairo sees slightly hotter temperatures with the bustling of the city but I'd do anything in October to escape Ireland's weather! Japan- October in Japan ushers in a mild and comfortable season, with average temperatures ranging from 15 to 24°C. As the typhoon season ends, the weather becomes consistently pleasant, offering mostly clear, dry days - perfect for outdoor sightseeing and activities. While the intense summer heat has faded, the temperatures remain warm enough for beach outings and city explorations with fall colors. November My favourite month by far to travel! The days are getting darker in Ireland, the cold is really getting into my bones and you're in that lull between Halloween and Christmas. But most importantly, my favourite place- South East Asia- is back on the menu! While October is in the rainy season, you're still going to be getting the odd downpour but they're so cool so I don't really mind! South East Asia, particularly Thailand - by November, the rainfall and hot, sticky weather will have decreased significantly, with dry weather returning for the next six months. There is a 22% chance of a perfect sunny day and a 78% chance of seeing a mixture of sunshine and clouds with an average 70mm of rainfall this month. The best time to visit Thailand is during the cool and dry season between November and early April, when temperatures range from 29°C to 34°C The Maldives- t he weather in the Maldives in November is characterised by a few rainy days, but also sees plenty of sunshine since it's officially the end of the wet season . Temperatures in November vary between 27C and 29C, while the sea temperature settles at 28°C, comfortable enough for swimming. Mexico- November is probably the ideal time to visit Mexico as the rains are over and the land is still fresh but the peak season has not yet begun. This is when the northern regions begin to cool down but the southern parts of the country remain warm. Along the Pacific coast, temperatures average around 75°F (24°C) during the daytime, still hot enough for some beach time, whilst central regions, including Mexico City, register daytime temperatures around 72°F (22°C). The Indigenous tradition of the Day of the Dead also takes place in November. December Anywhere you go in December is going to be better than the cold temperatures and darkness of Ireland, so you have my full permission to stray away from my proposed destinations. While the islands closer to Africa get packed with visitors escaping the north of Europe this time of year, there are other destinations further afield that might entice you! Dubai - D ecember in Dubai, as well as the Emirates in general, is as close to perfect as it gets. It’s quite nice during the day — the temperature is around +27°C. The sea is still warm enough to swim. Dubai in December offers pleasant weather, festive celebrations, and a variety of activities, making it a popular time to visit. Expect mild temperatures, the start of the Dubai Shopping Festival, and opportunities for both outdoor adventures and cultural experiences. Sri Lanka, the Philippines, and Southern China - like November, the closer you get to the new year the less likely you are of experiencing those awesome downfalls of rain in South East and Central Asia. In Sri Lanka and the Philippines, the average high is 30ºC in December, which stays lovely and warm in the evenings as temperatures only drop to 22ºC. In the south of China, around Macau and Hong Kong, the average daytime high is a pleasant 20°C while the North of China is getting very cold at 2ºC. In the Bahamas it's a little milder the average daytime high's around 26°C, with seven hours of sunshine from 11 hours of daylight. So that's your month-by-month look at weather and where to go when! Where do you think you'll go next and in what month?
