  1. Rhinefield House, Hampshire from 'The Crown'

 

Helena Bonham-Carter and Olivia Colman were among the stars who stayed at Rhinefield House Hotel as up to 90 crew members filmed there for two-and-a-half days. The Hotel’s general management team confirmed that 19 cast members stayed at the hotel and the team shot scenes in the hotel interior and around its outdoor pool for an episode. 


They said “It was a very lucrative piece of business and very beneficial for the hotel. It’s an amazing venue and no surprise people are inspired to use it for their productions.” 


Furniture was changed around the hotel to make it look like the 1970s, as “The hotel was used as the site of a Scottish Balmoral venue – so it was nothing to do with the New Forest. They filmed mostly around the outdoor pool but inside as well.”

  1. The San Domenico Palace, Sicily from The White Lotus


The Sicilian town of Taormina is nothing if not spectacular, with the Ionian Sea at its feet and Mount Etna at its back. No less spectacular is San Domenico Palace, Taormina, A Four Seasons Hotel — a top-flight luxury resort, made newly famous in America as the setting for the second season of The White Lotus.


Here is where the all-star cast including Aubrey Plaza, Theo James, Murray Abraham, Jennifer Coolidge, Adam DiMarco,Tom Hollander and Sabrina Impacciatore made their way into the drama comedy series in their filming in Italy for season 2.

The fifth episode of the hit HBO series’ fourth and final season brought the Roy siblings to Scandinavia, where they joined a company retreat with Swedish tech-bro mogul Lukas Matsson (Alexander Skarsgård) in the hopes of closing the sale of Waystar Royco, the family-controlled conglomerate. A warning for the lucky folks who booked the “Landscape Hotel”, getting to the property is difficult. You’ll need a connection to fly into Ålesund Airport Vigra (AES), unless you have your own jet of course. Then it’s a scenic 90-minute drive from Ålesund. Taxis are hard to come by and expensive— around $300, the hotel’s web site warns. Of course, you could take a helicopter.


The Hotel: Juvet Landscape Hotel. Situated in Valldal, Norway, this unique hotel is a synthesis of raw nature, cultural history and experimental architecture. The hotel consists of 10 detached rooms that are sited separately, each with a unique perspective on the rugged landscape. Spa area The Bath house is a tranquil and refreshing spa built into the land by the river, invisible from the farmyard, but still only a few short steps away. It is a welcome bliss to relax here after a skiing trip or a walk – or perhaps after a long journey.

  1. Molitor Hotel, Paris from Emily in Paris


In season 3, episode 5 Emily and Mindy visit a pool party for the launch of a fictional sun care product. The dreamy pool, Piscine Molitor, featured in the episode really does exist. The Piscine Molitor has a long history starting in 1929 when it opened to the public as a place for leisure and recreation. In the 1970s that the pool begun to fall into disrepair and over the next few decades the structure became a haven for graffiti artists and illegal parties until the City Council tendered the use of the space and awarded it to the Accor Hotel group in 2014. Faithfully restored, the hotel giant brought it back to life and structured a hotel around the once famous pool.


The Hotel: The Molitor is now a hotel with 124 rooms and suites, all designed by the architect Jean-Philippe Nuel as genuine cocoons of peace and calm. The rooms that surround the outdoor pool give guests the impression that Molitor as a huge cruise-ship.

It also boasts a restaurant, a bar, a rooftop open to everyone, proposing seasonal dishes made with fresh produce by the resident Chef and his crew. Pastry creations are a pleasure for both eyes and taste-buds.

  1. Las Dunas, Costa del Sol from Rivals


The new Disney+ series Rivals, a critique of the world of television based on British TV programmes of the 1980s, was filmed in Malaga. The storyline is based on the attraction of the Costa del Sol for Brits at the time. Full of sex, alcohol and ambition, Rivals is a TV adaption of the second book in Jilly Cooper's 'Rutshire Chronicles' novels, which portrays the power and excesses of the economic elite of England in the 1980s.


Alex Hassell and Nafessa Williams are seen on the screen in well-known settings such as Calle San Agustín, Plaza del Obispo with the Cathedral in the background and the Roman theatre, streets dotted with posters of bullfights from 1987, street stalls, nuns eating ice cream and pencil skirts.
