Hi! I'm Aurora, Luxury Travel Writer with Travel Times. This week, myself and Sophie, our Social Media Executive, had the pleasure of visiting Cabü by the Lakes in county Cavan. We were given an exclusive look at their new 2 and 3 bedroom cabins, available to book from March. These 15 new woodland cabins were led by the standout three bedroom barnhouse with hottub.

Cabü by the Lakes is a truly magical place, set within the tranquill woodlands of Killykeen forest park on the shores of Lough Oughter. The cabins are thoughtfully spaced so that you don’t feel overlooked or lacking that solitude so many of us crave. You get the sense of being in the wilderness, at one with nature , removed from the hustle and bustle of your everyday city life but with the option of luxury and convenience within easy reach. Whether it's indulging in a spa treatment or relaxing in a hot tub or just lounging in the cabin club sipping on a cocktail in hand whilst listening to the sounds of the birds in the background: Cabü, for me, truly has it all. That sense of being at one with nature and yet maintaining life’s little indulgent luxuries.
The cabins at Cabü have been carefully thought out , each piece of furniture, art work and coffee table book has been intentionally selected to reflect the aesthetics of the surrounding landscape. The new cabins are designed with magnificent windows, almost floor to ceiling , capturing a perfect picture frame . The cabins blend seamlessly into their surroundings; they are incredibly spacious, perfect for a family or a group of friends looking to unwind and escape together, and to top it off, it’s dog friendly, and not the "dogs must stay in your room" kind. Your fury four-legged family member gets their own bed next to the fire, their own water bowls and they are welcome from the bar to boat. They even have doggy life jackets. They've thought of everything!

The attention to detail contniues in the cabin, each has their own piece of outdoor space, with a seating area, picnic bench and a BBQ. We were lucky enough to stay in the forest cabins: it was fabulous. It had a luxurious bedroom with bath tub of which I took full advantage, a snug living room, equipped with cosy blankets and an open fire (ready to go on arrival) so only required a lit match. A mounted TV with Netflix preinstalled was primed at the ready and a stash of goodies we’d acquired from the wonderful shop on site, Cabü Corner. It was the perfect way to end the day!

In the morning, we grabbed coffee and a pastry from Cabü Corner before heading to our morning treatment. Cabü by the Lakes is less than a 2 hour drive from Dublin Airport and the same from Belfast Airport making it an ideal location. Unfortunately our time in Cabü was too short, I’d recommend a minimum of a 2 night stay. There is so much to do here, from kayaking, bike rides, long leisurely forest walks, spa treatments and hot tubs, sipping cocktails by the fire, reading that long overdue book and just time to unwind and relax, connect your body and mind. Here "luxury is intentional, creating refined spaces for rest, reflection , and immersion in nature"
Two night stay start from €570 in a Woodland Cabin and from €995 in the Barnhouse with hot Tub, all subject to season and availability.
